Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
